“2021 is the 40th anniversary of the Orienteering Association of Hong Kong. We celebrate this joyous year by hosting the 4th Asian Junior and Youth Orienteering Championships (the 4th AsJYOC) as well as our first Hong Kong Orienteering Week (HK O Week 2021). On behalf of the community of Hong Kong, we would like to extend a warm welcome to all participating athletes, team officials and the public across Asia and other parts of the world.

Hong Kong is a travel-friendly and accommodating place to visit. We have long been known as the Pearl of the Orient, Food and Shopping Paradise. The 4th AsJYOC and HK O Week 2021 bring you to experience our culture and immerse yourself in this glamorous city.

Special gratitude must be given to Mr. Hideo INABA, our Senior Event Adviser and Mr. Shin MURAKOSHI, one of our best friends in the orienteering community, for their unfailing guidance and support. I would also like to express a huge thank you to all the members within the organising committee including Mr. Patrick NG, the National Controller, and the four young, creative and enthusiastic Event Directors.

Last but not least, I would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thankfulness to the Home Affairs Bureau and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department for their support.”

“The Orienteering Association of Hong Kong has already hosted a considerable number of successful international orienteering events in Hong Kong. We have staged the APOC in 1986, 1996, 2006, a World Cup in 1988, the first AsJYOC in 2015, and the AsOC in 2018. After 6 years, the AsJYOC has finally come back to this little place.

Every year, the Asian championship is the moment that athletes from Asian countries demonstrate their efforts devoted over the year. Their experiences absorbed from competitions all around the world go to the same place and boost the level of Asia orienteering.

Besides competitions, the championships are where numerous friendships and memories are born – these are our objectives and core values in preparing the event. We hope our event can serve as the foundations of future relationships and their best memories, especially for Asian youth and junior orienteers. We desire to see interactions and connections among different nationalities and cultures. Please join us and enjoy the fun in the 4th AsJYOC and HK O Week 2021! We look forward to having you all in this memorable event.”
